Explanation of common knitting pattern terms and abbreviations

- K – knit: with yarn held in back, insert the right needle into the stitch from front to back. Wrap the yarn in the back.
- P – purl: with yarn held in front, insert the right needle into the stitch from back to front. Wrap the yarn in the front.
- SSK – slip slip knit: slip the next two stitches from your left needle to your right needle as if to knit. Insert your left needle into both stitches that you just slipped, and knit them as one stitch. This will decrease one stitch that leans towards the left.
- K2T – knit two together: insert the right needle into the next two stitches at the same time and knit as one. This will decrease one stitch that leans towards the right.
